The Heart Of Texas Ham Operators Group, or HOT HOG, is a 501( c )( 3 ) non-profit organization of Amateur Radio operators (“hams”) in central Texas (Club call is WA5HOT). The group’s origin was Brady, Texas, which lies just a few miles from the geographical center of Texas (aptly named the “Heart of Texas”). The organization now represents hams from several central Texas counties including McCulloch, Mason, Menard, Concho, and San Saba.

The Heart Of Texas Ham Operators Group is a designated public charity and is a tax exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501 (c) (3). Donors can deduct contributions made to the club under IRC Section 170. The club is also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106 or 2522.

The organization has changed over the years and gone through varying stages of activity.
